Learn about the classical game of strategy and its variations through the years. This session, we'll explore "Fairy chess pieces"; chess pieces not used in conventional chess but incorporated into certain chess variants. Each session starts with a brief lecture on the topic, with the rest of the time dedicated for playing. Some chess sets, regular and specialized, available for playing. Program aimed at adults, but teens welcome. All skill levels welcome, beginner to experts.

The Alford Branch Library is located in south Wichita near I-235 and Meridian. The building is named for Lionel D. Alford (1925-2000), a retired senior vice president at Boeing who is credited for starting the Kansas Food Bank and known as an advocate for Wichita Public Schools.
