Learn about the classical game of strategy and its variations through the years. Each session starts with a brief lecture, with the rest of the time dedicated for playing. All skill levels welcome.

Come learn about the classic game of chess or try something new. Some chess sets, regular and specialized, available for playing.  Patrons welcome to bring their own.  Program aimed at adults, but chess players of all ages are welcome.  All skill levels welcome, beginner to experts.  Scheduled for 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

About the branch

The Walters Branch is located in southeast Wichita by the WSU Tech south campus. It is named for Dr. Ronald W. Walters, who organized the 1958 sit-in of the Dockum Drug Store.
