Celebrate Tolkien Reading Day, marking the downfall of the Lord of the Rings (Sauron) and the fall of Barad-dûr. Listen to music from the “Lord of the Rings” films. Simply sit and read one of his many books, color, or try a few fantasy-based crafts. Fans of any and all lore left by J. R. R. Tolkien are welcome. Costumes encouraged but not required.
The Alford Branch Library is located in south Wichita near I-235 and Meridian. The building is named for Lionel D. Alford (1925-2000), a retired senior vice president at Boeing who is credited for starting the Kansas Food Bank and known as an advocate for Wichita Public Schools.
