Join us for an art activity that encourages self-reflection and mental well-being in a judgment-free space. Call 316-261-8500 or visit wichitalibrary.org/events to register. For all ages and families.
Art can be a powerful tool for self-expression and self-discovery. When we create art as a tool for self-care, we have the opportunity to explore our thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and non-judgmental space. This month we will be creating our very own Gratitude Gardens in honor of our 2026 Big Read selection, "Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude" by Ross Gay. It is a book of poetry with an emphasis on things like community, connection, gratitude, nature, and gardens. We will be using a template from Doing Good Together to craft flowers where the petals include - in writing - the things we are grateful for. All materials are provided.
The Walters Branch Library is located in southeast Wichita near the WSU Tech South campus. The library is named for Dr. Ronald W. Walters (1938-2010), an author, speaker, and scholar of African American politics who organized the 1958 Dockum drug store sit-in.
