Enjoy your freedom to read freely? Join us for a book discussion about a recent target of book banning: Maus: A Survivor's Tale #1 by Art Spiegelman. This critically-acclaimed graphic novel is Spiegelman's compelling retelling of his father Vladek’s life story, that of a middle-class Polish Jew who survived the Nazi death camps. The first six chapters employ a simple, chillingly effective iconography: Jews have the faces of mice; the Nazis, those of cats. 

In addition to talking about the book's story, characters, format, and themes, we'll discuss the recent surge in book challenges and bans across the country, using Maus as a case study.
