Art can be a powerful tool for self-expression and self-discovery. When we create art as a tool for self-care, we have the opportunity to explore our thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and non-judgmental space. This month we will practice Origami, the Japanese art of paper-folding, which involves transforming a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and creasing techniques. It is a creative and meditative practice that has been enjoyed by people of all ages and cultures for centuries. Origami is not just a fun pastime, but also a therapeutic and educational tool that can enhance mental health, boost creativity, and promote well-being. In this program, we will practice eight basic folds that can be used to create a number of origami sculptures from classic cranes and boats to more complex structures. Origami paper and related supplies will be provided to practice with. No previous experience with Origami is required.
