Join us for a deep dive into a popular book genre including essential themes, where to start, authors to know, hot and upcoming titles, recommended resources and more!
In honor of National Poetry Month, we are going to explore the literary genre of poetry, a complex literary art that uses aesthetic and often (but not always) the rhythmic styles of language to evoke an emotional response from its readers. In this program, we’ll talk about popular subgenres of poetry, how to read and appreciate poetry, the history of poetry and notable poets, how poetry is evolving, and some recommended poetry collections to check out whether you are new to poetry or are a long-time aficionado of this unique literary art.
