Join the Wichita Public Library and the Friends of the Library for an evening with author Pete Davis, whose viral Harvard Law School speech and book Dedicated: The Case for Commitment in an Age of Infinite Browsing sparked a national conversation about commitment, participation, and community. Davis argues that modern culture often encourages us to keep our options open—constantly browsing for the next opportunity—rather than choosing something meaningful and sticking with it.
Pete will be joined by Wichitans Danielle and Brandon Johnson for a conversation about what commitment looks like in practice. Together they will explore how long-term dedication strengthens organizations, builds trust, and helps communities thrive.
During the event, the Library will also launch its new Civic Action Passport, an initiative designed to encourage people across Wichita to participate in community life through simple, meaningful actions. The Passport will highlight opportunities throughout the city—from attending community events to volunteering and engaging with local organizations.
