Celebrate Kansas Day at the Advanced Learning Library with the unveiling of Mapping the Gap, a Kansas-inspired textile artwork by Malissa Long, created in collaboration with the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas. Long traveled across the state gathering stories about Kansans’ experiences with health care access. The resulting piece weaves these stories together into a powerful representation of our state’s progress toward affordable, accessible health care. Join us for a special reception and be among the first to see this new, meaningful work.
Malissa Long is a Kansas-based fiber artist whose work intertwines community engagement, sustainability, and storytelling through textiles. A cancer survivor and arts advocate, she channels her experience and creativity into public art and provides leadership to organizations that strengthen and connect Kansas’s creative communities.
