Children's PavilionStop by and mark the 20th anniversary of Pluto's reclassification! We'll have family-friendly activities and great explanations from our local chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.
Stop by our table as we mark the 20th anniversary of Pluto being reclassified as a dwarf planet!
Family-friendly activities will include:
- Dwarf planet coloring pages
- Scale models of Pluto, Eris, other dwarf planets, and the planets of our solar system
- Fun space facts and hands-on comparisons
- Friendly conversations about what makes a planet a planet
We'll explore why astronomers changed Pluto's classification, how discoveries like Eris challenged our understanding of the solar system, why science sometimes changes its mind when new evidence comes along, and how to pronounce Quaoar!

The Advanced Learning Library, located centrally in the historic Delano neighborhood, has many specialty services and collections including the Maker Space and AV Studio, local history and genealogy collections, and the Friends of the Wichita Public Library used bookstore.
