Through personal stories and factual context, this program will put a human face on immigration and help our community separate myth from reality.
Immigration is one of the most misunderstood issues in America today, not to mention one of the most polarizing. It affects our schools, workforce, and neighborhoods right here in Wichita. This program brings together immigrants who will share their personal journeys alongside local experts who will explain how the U.S. immigration system actually works.
In this program, attendees will gain a clearer understanding of the differences between visas, green cards, asylum and naturalization; the process of immigration and existing barriers immigrants face; what local resources and organizations exist to support immigrants and refugees and how they support them; and how misinformation can distort public understanding of immigration and how this influences policy discussions.
